Time Off Policies
At Acme Inc., we believe that taking time away from work is essential for our employees' well-being and work-life balance. This section outlines our policies for various types of time off, including eligibility, accrual, and request procedures.
Vacation Time
Eligibility and Accrual
- Full-time employees are eligible for paid vacation time
- Vacation time accrues at a rate of X days per month, up to a maximum of Y days per year
- Part-time employees working at least 20 hours per week accrue vacation time on a prorated basis
- Accrual begins on the first day of employment
Carryover and Caps
- Employees may carry over up to X unused vacation days into the next year
- Once the carryover cap is reached, no additional vacation time will accrue until some is used
- In certain states, accrued vacation time is considered earned wages and will be paid out upon termination
Requesting Vacation Time
- Employees should request vacation time at least X weeks in advance using our HRIS system
- Requests will be approved based on business needs and staffing requirements
- In the event of conflicting requests, seniority will be considered
Sick Leave
Eligibility and Accrual
- All employees, including part-time and temporary workers, are eligible for paid sick leave
- Sick leave accrues at a rate of X hours per pay period, up to a maximum of Y hours per year
- Accrual begins on the first day of employment
Usage and Carryover
- Sick leave may be used for personal illness, medical appointments, or to care for a sick family member
- Unused sick leave may be carried over from year to year, up to a maximum of X hours
- Sick leave is not paid out upon termination
Reporting Sick Leave
- Employees should notify their supervisor as soon as possible when using sick leave
- For absences of X or more consecutive days, a doctor's note may be required
Personal Days
- Full-time employees are granted X personal days per year to use as needed
- Personal days do not accrue and must be used within the calendar year
- Unused personal days are not paid out upon termination
Holidays
- Acme Inc. observes the following paid holidays each year:
- New Year's Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
- If a holiday falls on a weekend, it will be observed on the nearest weekday
- Hourly employees who work on a holiday will receive holiday pay at X times their regular rate
Bereavement Leave
- In the event of the death of an immediate family member, employees may take up to X days of paid bereavement leave
- Immediate family includes spouse, domestic partner, child, parent, sibling, grandparent, or grandchild
- Additional unpaid time off may be granted at the discretion of management
Jury Duty
- Employees summoned for jury duty will receive their regular pay for up to X days
- Employees should notify their supervisor as soon as they receive a jury summons
- Any compensation received from the court may be retained by the employee
Parental Leave
Eligibility
- Employees who have worked for Acme Inc. for at least X months are eligible for parental leave
- Parental leave may be taken for the birth, adoption, or foster placement of a child
Duration and Pay
- Eligible employees may take up to X weeks of parental leave
- The first X weeks of parental leave are paid at 100% of the employee's regular salary
- The remaining X weeks are paid at X% of the employee's regular salary
- Parental leave runs concurrently with any applicable federal or state family and medical leave laws
